Frequently asked questions

How much does it cost to use Tengera?
There's no subscription. You pay a 10% service fee on the item total plus a runner fee of UGX 5,000 base + UGX 500 per km. For example, a UGX 50,000 grocery run within 5km costs about UGX 57,500 total.
Is my money safe?
Yes! Your payment is held in escrow via MTN MoMo or Airtel Money and only released to the runner after you confirm delivery. If there's an issue, you can request a refund.
Who are the runners?
All runners are NIN-verified and go through a vetting process. They build trust over time through a four-tier system: Bronze → Silver → Gold → Platinum. You can see their rating and trust level before accepting.
What areas does Tengera cover?
We're currently available in Kampala and surrounding areas. We're expanding to more cities in Uganda soon.
Can I track my runner?
Yes! Once a runner accepts your errand, you can track their location in real-time on the map. You'll also get updates when they start shopping and when they're heading to deliver.
What if something goes wrong?
You're protected by our escrow system. If items are wrong or the runner doesn't deliver, you can raise a dispute. Our support team will investigate and issue a refund if needed. You also rate runners after each errand.
How do I become a runner?
Sign up, verify your NIN, and start accepting errands in your area. You'll start at Bronze level and progress as you complete more errands successfully. Higher trust levels mean access to more and better-paying errands.
What payment methods are supported?
We support MTN Mobile Money and Airtel Money. Payment is seamless — just confirm delivery and the money is released from escrow to the runner.
